ELMS ROAD, SW4

This 72m2 garden was offering very little interest to our clients and was not a very encouraging space to use.    Working with existing hard landscaping, we applied a ‘makeover facelift’ approach focusing on the client's desire to create a garden that reminded them of their short term relocation to Singapore.

We unified all existing fences and decking of various colours and condition with an urban slate stain to match the slate paving and to provide a cohesive canvas.  Carefully lifting and modifying the paving, minor adjustments were made to create a slightly bigger space to maximize on planting opportunity.

A tropical collection of lush tones of green foliage was the main stay of the planting scheme here which when established will look stunning against the grey background.

Tree Ferns amongst Ilex Crenata Balls, Brunneras and Heucheras provided a fabulous combination of form and texture. We replaced the redundant corten steel water feature panel to the rear of the garden with a pergola for a swinging bench; symbolic of their time abroad.  Tall bamboos were used to screen out unsightly views to the far corner.

Storage was essential so we created a sleek slatted storage unit into the recess of the terrace to the side of the bi-fold doors.  The sizeable terrace will be furnished with a feature trough planter,  L shaped sofa and coffee table.
